Four policemen
in trouble
Two policemen are among three men
charged with robbery with
aggravation in Montego Bay last
Friday.
This follows a ruling by the
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),
Paula Llewellyn.
In police custody are 31 year-old
Constable Anthony Harris, Special
Constable Itchream Shuriah, 28, both
of the St. James Division and 25
year-old Gavin McNeil of Tucker in
the parish.
The Constabulary Communications
Network reported that about 11:30
a.m. on Saturday, March 8, the three
men allegedly held up and robbed two
men of an undetermined sum of money
and cell phones along Gloucester
Avenue in the second city.
The police were alerted and they
were apprehended. A file was
subsequently submitted to the DPP
who ruled that the men be charged.
In the meantime, the police in St.
Elizabeth are awaiting a ruling from
the DPP to determine their
colleagues’ fate
Reports are that two policemen who
are attached to the Black River
Police Station in St. Elizabeth and
were implicated in a robbery
committed in the parish last
December, are now in custody.
The policemen, ages 34 and 36 years,
are a Corporal and a Constable
respectively. Their identities were
not released at press time.
Reports from the CCN state that, on
Monday December 3 last year, the
policemen allegedly held up and
robbed a man of an undetermined sum
of money in Lacovia District. The
victim later reported the incident
to the Black River Police. Following
a probe by investigators from the
Anti-Corruption Branch, the
policemen were apprehended. They
were fingered during an
identification parade which was held
in Black River last Saturday. A file
will be submitted to the Director of
Public Prosecutions for a ruling.
