With defending champions Holmwood
who plagued teams in the competition
four straight years out of the way,
St. Elizabeth Technical High School
turned up the heat, on newcomers
Godfrey Stewart, Crushing
them for first innings honours to
crown themselves champions of the
2007 Issa / Grace headley Cricket
Cup title in their three encounter
at the Alpart Sports Ground.
Godfrey Stewart batting first made
94 for the loss of two wickets when
rain interrupted play, washing out
the post tea-session. STETHS in
reply facing the bowling of Godfrey
Stewart once led by captain Nickoy
Samuels with a hefty knock of 97
gained a lot of support from Ishmael
Parchment 40 and Derval Green 54
leading the winners to a comfortable
269 for 7 declared.
Samuels was trapped LBW off the
bowling of seamer Orane Scarlett who
finished with figures of 3 for 26.
It was overnight batsmen Parchment
25 and Samuels 24 who held the
team's victory together after
batting to the lunch interval,
posting a partnership of 106 before
the fall of the third wicket that of
Parchment
for 42 with 135 runs on the board.
Fourteen year old right arm wrist
spinner Donavon Nelson who will
represent Jamaica at the under-15
level finished with two runs off
five overs as the bowling line for
STETHS ran through the Godfrey
Stewart team.

that he was pleased with the
performance of the players not
withstanding that defending
champions Holmwood were defeated in
the semi-finals by Godfrey Stewart
opened the way.
Godfrey Stewart were 55 for 5 when
rain ended play.
