The Savanna-la-Mar Police are seeking the public’s assistance in finding Delroy Earle, a 36 year-old man who they think can be of vital help in their investigation into the murder of a twenty-five year-old man in the town on Thursday.

Dead is Sediek Blythe, a factory worker at Grace Food processor and who lived at 30 Seaton Crescent. Blythe was killed at about 10 a.m., when he was attacked by a machete weilding man as he walked along Seaton Crescent.

According to a report from the Savanna-la-Mar CIB, Blythe was chopped several times all over his body including his head, chest, neck and hands by the man. He then struggled to make it back home where he collapsed at the back door of his house and had to b assisted by the Emergency Response Unit from the fire department. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The attacker then fled the community but is being sought by the police for questioning. The murder has stung the community. The deceased’s mother, Ms. Myrtle Alcock, said she knew not why her son was killed but was certain that he did not deserve it.

“I cannot tell you how I feel but he never deserved to die like this. He was my first child and although he was stubborn I loved him.”

“It is just a great loss for the family right now. It’s just a bad nightmare,” she said wiping away a tear.

However, the Western Mirror was told that he recently was acquitted of a shooting with intent and pocession of illegal firearm charge at the Western Regional Gun Court but has been a focal point in several other crimes in the community. His murder may have stemmed from his earlier acquittal by the court; however the police are not yet to determine a motive for his murder.

Earle, the cops said, served a full seven years in a New York prison and was deported in December 2007. He is known to frequent the Seaton Crescent area of the town but is also known to have ties to Payne Land in the Waterhouse community of Kingston. If seen, the public is being urged to call the Savanna-la-Mar CIB at 955-2758 or the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station at 955-2810
