Salomie SamuelsA 48 year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of Mosquito Cove, Hanover early Friday morning, plunging her family and friends into deep mourning. Dead is Salomie Samuels of Red Ground, Negril. Mrs. Samuels who was on her way to receive treatment for a persistent kidney problem was among two others travelling to Montego Bay when, upon reaching an intersection at Mosquito Cove, the motorcar that was transporting her was crashed into by another. She was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries. The other persons suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. Her brother Delroy Johnson expressed shock and anguish at the sudden passing of his sister, describing her as a kind and loving woman who took pride in whatever she was doing despite suffering from kidney failure. “She would always make the journey over to Montego Bay for dialysis treatment. But only God can say why things happened the way it did,” Mr. Johnson said. He said Mrs. Samuels worked in the education sector for a while before being sidelined by the disease. However, she never stopped “even at home she still find something to do. That was the kind of woman she was,” he said. Married for 29 years, she will be sadly missed by her husband and her children-2 biological and two step children. “I miss her already,” said her 12 year-old son Livon Samuels, moments after her death was confirmed. “She was a great person. I am so sad,” he added as tears welled up in his eyes. He said his mother was a jovial, friendly and persistent person who got along well with members of the community and that she will be greatly missed by all. “When you go through the community everybody is hurting because she was a very well liked person,” Livon said.
