Village United and Reno Clash

Village United and Reno will meet Sunday at Frome Sports Complex in a highly anticipated Digicel National Premier League encounter. Before Wednesday’s round of matches Reno had amassed 5 points in comparison to Village’s 8. Reno has found the going tough and must be cursing their luck after dominating most games but failing to come away victorious. They have drawn five of their 6 games, three at home and two away. Defeat has come their way only once.

Village on the other hand have won twice, drawn twice and lost twice to sit in mid-table on 8 points. Village will enter the game with their recent victories behind them but Coach Dr. Dean Weatherly will be cognizant of the fact that the team has been letting in soft goals all season. This the Reno coaching staff will be taking into consideration. For Village to leave Frome with a point, they will have to defend stoutly in the first 25 minutes where Reno can be strong. Shane Crawford, Omar Allen, Ian McNuff and company will have to finish strongly in the last 15 minutes when Reno seem to let in easy goals. Reno will be depending on Nicholay Findlayson, Fabian Blake and others to knock in the goal they seem to create at will.

One person who could spoil the fun is Ricardo Scott who now plies his trade for Village but represented Reno last season. Scott’s speed and skills can be very unsettling for defenders but the Reno players should have intimate knowledge as to what he can do. Will Village come out the victor in this Western Derby? Or will Reno keep all three points? These questions will be answered Sunday afternoon at Frome.
