Technical problems with the air conditioning have curtailed operations of the operating Theatres at the Sav-la-Mar Hospital in Westmoreland.

Acting Regional Director of the Western Regional Health Authority, Dr. Alexander Konstantinov said in a release on May 1, the air-conditioning unit at
the hospital has been breaking down often and only last weekend it was repaired but broke down a day later.

Dr. Konstantinov said there's an approved project with the National Health Fund to procurea new system but that will take some time. In the interim, a temporary compressor is to be installed.

It is expected that restoration of full service will take about two weeks; until then, the hospital will be handling emergency cases only in one Operating Theatre.
