Man tries to sneak away with stolen goods

It seems some people never learn.

Just five months after a Westmoreland RM gave 22-year-old St. James resident Marlon Hill a suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to two counts of larceny, he was at it again.

Hill appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and again pleaded guilty to two counts of a similar offence.

And like the other occasions, he could not resist the temptation of stealing a cellular phone along with a pair of sneakers.

Break ins reported

Allegations outlined in court are that on May 24, at 11:50 p.m., the police received information about a number of break-ins in Bogue.

The police subsequently saw Hill, who fitted the description given of the culprit, walking along Bouge main road with a bag in his hand.

A search of the bag revealed two cellular phones and a pair of sneakers. He gave conflicting stories about the phones and was unable to insert a correct pin number. He later confessed to stealing them and took the police to the two complainant's home where the female complainant identified one of the phones and the male complainant identified the sneakers.

RM Winsome Henry ordered that Hill be remanded pending his criminal records after she learnt about his antecedents.

He is scheduled to return to court today.
